Source of details for Timothy and Catherine Foohey For his birth date and year of citizenship, letter he sent to his cousin in Ireland in 1899. Labelle Family Tree on Ancestry.com (TOS Sept 2015) Also the 1880 and later census. Most of the children in the first marriage were born in Ohio, though the youngest were born in Bement, Illinois, where they were living for the 1880 census. They later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana (TOS Sep 2015)

Timothy married twice. According to the Foohey/Logan family tree on Ancestry.com, He had 9 children in the first marriage and 6 in the second. His occupation in the Directories for Fort Wayne is given as "Contractor". He lived at 205, Douglas Ave, Fort Wayne IND. This was about 10 Blocks from where his son, John M lived, at 210 W Creighton Ave. (TOS Sept 2015) In the City Directory for Fort Wayne IND for 1911, Timothy and his son John M are listed as Dredging Company Contractors

"Fort Wayne Journal Gazette" June 13, 1908 "The Timothy Foohey Dredging company, of this city, has received a contract for dredging a ditch in Champaign County, Ill. The contract price was %25,000". (For comparison, the house Timothy bought for his son, John M (Jack) around the same time cost $5,000.) (TOS Sept 2015)

The Foohey children went to the Central Catholic High School (CCHS) in Fort Wayne. They were involved in many school activites , including the school magazine, the "Echo". In it, it is reported that Timothy Foohey was instrumental in setting up a fund for the Cathedral etc (TOS Sept 2015)

The link below is to a book about the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana and features Bill Foohey, Timothy's son, who went to Notre Dame. In it, it is stated that Timothy's family were evicted in Castlelyons, Cork and that he came to the USA with nothing and worked his way up. It also says that he had nine children, when he had fifteen.
