In his death notice (Limerick Chronicle) , it is stated that "he commenced his career in the office of Mr. M.A. Hennessy C.E., formerly of this city, and later carried on business on his own account"
He owned Southill Quarry and did a lot of stonework for buildings.
He married twice, 2 girls 1st marriage (Madge, Mary) and 1 with 2nd marriage (Gladys)
First Marriage took place on Feb 17th, 1884. Second on Aug 16, 1900.
Two daughters married O'Sullivan brothers Jack (Madge) and (Mary)

In 1901 census, he is living in Number 5, Wellington Terrace, which
is at the bottom of O'Connell Ave, Limerick. These were built originally as Army Officers' houses. His two daughters from his first marriage are present, as is his second wife, Mary (Minnie) Byrne.
His third daughter, Gladys, was born at the end of 1901.
