Note
Jack's grandson, John (Kevin), confirmed that Jack wrote quite an important article in the Old Limerick Journal on the Windmill area (locally pronounced Wymill) of Limerick City. (Link : http://www.limerickcity.ie/media/Media,3986,en.pdf) This part of the city between Henry Street and the Shannon, with Windmill street and Frederick (O'Curry) Street as the main connecting streets, was a traditional ships' chandlery area (repairs and supplies) of the port. Many seafaring families lived there too, including that of Captain Sweetland, who was out on the night of the 'Big Wind' (see note on May Sweetland). Jack acknowledges that May was the major source for the detail in his excellent article (TOS)
